Hi, My name is Michael Webster, and I’ve been designing websites off-and-on since the late 1990’s. I’m from southern Indiana, but spent most of my career working in the New York magazine publishing industry.
I’ve seen the good and the bad, the cutting edge designs, the bleeding edge code, the shiny, blinky, custom-built monstrosities that went way over budget and resulted in unhappy clients who had to pay someone to create a new website all over again after just a few years, if that long.
I do not play that. I’ve always sought to learn the universal, timeless truths of web development and design, the concepts that never go too far out of fashion. Those higher level concepts provide the foundation for every website I create.

The purpose of design is not to wow the visitor with shiny trinkets. The purpose of design is to get your website’s visitors to connect emotionally with your product or service; and/or with you. Good design starts simple, even if it ends up being relatively complex. Good design says “hello, nice to meet you, come inside and stay awhile.” Good design makes the visitor feel comfortable. A well-designed website makes doing business a pleasure.
And, when talking about websites, good design is more than just what you see on the screen. Good website design includes the code that lies beneath. Even more than visual design, the code used to build websites comes and goes, eventually leaving clients with a foundation that can no longer be maintained; or that is difficult, if not impossible; and certainly expensive, to update or change.
That’s why I have come to specialize in WordPress. It is the most widely used website publishing platform; it is built on web standards, making the design easy to modify without having to start all over again; and it is free to install and update. And, once the development and design is in place, it is very easy for you to add or modify content. You do not need to be a computer expert to do it.
That, essentially, is what I can do for you. I can help you design a built-to-last website that will look good on big screens or small; attract visitors and effectively communicate whatever it is you have to communicate. Because, back to universal truths, communication is what it’ all about. Or sales, but effective communication is the essential first step to good sales.
So communication is key, and that’s true throughout the process. It is the very first step. We will sit down and talk about your goals, tastes, and ambitions for your website. Then we will continue to communicate, and collaborate, every step of the way, ensuring that the final product is just what you wanted.
Your project is important. It is very serious. We both know that. Talk with me. Look around. Talk to other agencies and studios. Then talk with me again. If I don’t think I’m the best person for the job, I’ll happily recommend someone who is.
